[Product Development Case] Examples and Achievements of Fasteners for Securing Roofing Materials
We would like to introduce examples of product development for screws and nails that we have proposed!
We would like to introduce a case study of the development of fasteners proposed by Yamaki Sangyo for securing cement flat roof materials to fire-resistant sheathing. The customer's request was to secure the roofing material to the fire-resistant sheathing. Since the substrate is made of inorganic material rather than fibrous material, there was a significant issue with fasteners being prone to pull-out, and there was concern that if the head of the fastener was not flat, the roofing material would crack when walked on. Therefore, we proposed using screws instead of nails. Additionally, we used a special flexible material with grooves in the washer part of the screw to ensure that the screw head is flush with the material. Through these innovations, we were able to propose a screw that meets the customer's requirements. 【Case Study】 ■ Issues - Fasteners are very prone to pull-out when secured to inorganic materials. - If the head is not flat, the roofing material may crack when walked on. ■ Proposal - Use screws instead of nails. - Use a special flexible material with grooves in the washer part of the screw to ensure the screw head is flush with the material. *For more details, please refer to the PDF document or feel free to contact us.
